LADIES LUNCHEON 2024
What makes summer in Camden-Rockport so special? For members of the Megunticook Golf Club, the answer isn’t difficult and hasn’t been for 125 years: It’s tennis and golf
and time spent with friends on the historic clubhouse veranda. For 90 of those years music, too, has been part of the mix, beginning in the 1930s when Mary Louise Curtis Bok, daughter of MGC’s third president, founded the Curtis Institute’s summer music colony, with headquarters right here on Calderwood Lane.
Our speaker this year will be Josie Davis, Director of Bay Chamber Concerts, successor organization to the Curtis summer colony. She will share the
tale of how Bay Chamber evolved into a fully fledged concert venue and
music school with its own state-of-the-art headquarters in downtown Camden.
Ms. Davis received her B.M. and B.A. in violin and sociology at Oberlin College and Conservatory and her Ed. M. from Harvard University. She has performed everywhere from Carnegie Hall to a taco shop (with Emanuel Ax).
With our guest speaker will be pianist Ina Wolovitz, a Bay Chamber Music School student for 11 years, most recently under the tutelage of Dr. Patricia Stowell. She hopes to minor in music when she begins her studies at Brown University this autumn. Ina will play a selection of works during the welcome reception at this year’s luncheon.
Guests welcome
